How do you prefer to advertise? I generally affiliate anywhere and everywhere, and it's working reasonably well! What about you?

I advertise everywhere I have time to, especially at those sites who post in my advertising space. I also affiliate with as many people as I can. I put links in my signatures as well, no matter what kind of forum I'm on. The best way to get the word out there is to get your link in as many places as possible to boost your Google rating.

I agree, but dont you just hate it when you post on a forum for years, get thousands of posts, then try to put a little ad in your signature, and get a slap on the wrists for it?!

I've never been in that situation, and if I was, I would probably promptly delete my account and say never mind about the ad, unless it was stated in the rules that advertising wasn't allowed in signatures.

If you're a respected member on a forum then chances are you'll get more members from that forum. Also, YouTube is a decent source of advertising.

I've used YouTube twice to advertise forums, here's one of a forum that I was the main admin at, before closing it click here. Generally though I make advertisements at ProBoards Support and then in signatures and profiles of other forums I'm a member at.

I advertise 2 or 3 times a week on loads of forums, mainly forums that are specifically for advertising / reviewing forums / post packages etc, these have helped out alot, but, being a graphic design forum i try and advertise on graphic design websites.

I've made some videos, advertised on PBS, and advertise on other sites.
I let affiliates come to me, and usually don't accept them. I get pretty good traffic.

I join other forums and put my website in my profile and/or make a siggy when possible. I'm going to try doing an affiliates thing. I've gotten pretty good traffic from just chatting with people elsewhere. They like me so they stop by my site.

Networking is a great thing. Having some online friends with message boards is always a great took to use to spread the word about yours. I do find that most of the traffic on my sites comes from my signature on other sites.

I love these ways of advertising especially the YouTube Videos They are well good I would of never thought of that
But I run an advertising forum and i advertise via Proboards Support and through advertising boards and my signatures on the big communitys i register on
I have quite a good team of staff on my forum who also help to advertise for me and i also only accept affiliate requests from forums that hold my affiliate code this is regularly checked by a staff member to ensure all affiliates i have still hold my banner if not then there affiliate is removed
