Trolls

It's happened to me too. I find the old adage "Don't feed the trolls" to work best. There is no appeasing them. Their goal is to divide a forum into factions and destroy it, so negotiating is a complete waste of time.

I haven't really had that big of a problem with Trolls thankfully, but maybe it's because I run an RP forum and it's kind of hard to troll it unless you just upset everyone. But I'm all for banning Trolls. If they aren't there to honestly participate I have no problem with taking them out, I also agree with not feeding the trolls. As a member of a site being attacked I don't talk to them and ignore anything they say. It's all you really can do.

As i said in a few of my recent posts in other threads i have been running a forum for over 4 years now and i dont ever recall coming across a Troll

But in the event this does happen i would give them 1 warning and 1 warning only after this i will fully ban them

I haven't had trolls in a long while on my other forum, which I'm very thankful for, and I don't think I've had one on this forum yet. We've had spammers, but they're slightly different.

Trolls, for the most part, get one warning, because for the most part, they've joined to blatantly cause a ruckus. After the first warning if they don't give up or stop the behavior, it's off to bansville for them.

lol. I know it probably wasn't funny when it was happening Jokkun but it sounds funny now. Makes me think of doing car washes at school and always ending up calling someone was 'car wash Nazi' for being so uptight.

Now that I think about it the first forum I co-admined had an intelligent troll. That was 8 years ago too - lol - anyway there was a girl-boy team of siblings who would follow the rules so they couldn't get banned without us looking like idiots but they were trying to start a riot among the members. They were run off by the members which is why I forgot about them.

I've found that admins are always warned about Trolls and taught what to do with them but they're actually fairly rare. A lot of us have been admin for years and have come across maybe one or two - or none.

I had a troll on one of my other boards.
I pointed out the forum rules.
Person didn't listen.
That person was quickly shown the door.
Haven't had a troll problem since.
