Well, now it's official. Barack Obama has been sworn in as the 44th President of the United States!
Regardless of your party affiliation, who you voted for, keep in mind and reflect upon this historic day that we have made a significant advance in the United States, in that a man of African American decent is now President of the United States for the first time.

Heh, my mom called me a traitor for voting for him, but I think he's going to do well. It's going to be tough, but he can do it.
A big thing I like about Obama is that he has a strong family of a wife and two little girls to support him. I think that can go a long way in his abilities to serve this country.

My mother and two of my sisters went to see the inauguration. They were part of the purple ticket fiasco. lol. I'm really excited - I did vote for him as did most of the people I know. My parents are pretty liberal and I thought the same for the rest of my family. I ended up learning just how racist and sexist my Uncles and Grandmother are. In fact... my Uncle is democratic and when the vote between Hillary and Obama came out he sat it out since he wouldn't vote for a black man or a woman. The biggest surprise was when everyone in my family, that I know of, voted for Obama and my Uncle (the other one) who is incredibly racist and very vocal about it went out and campaigned for Obama, convincing everyone who would hold still for two seconds to give the guy a try and look past his colour and so on and so forth. It was a giant shocker.
