Colors and color scheme:Your color scheme is very mellow, which is a good thing for a board. I would suggest that you make the greys that you are using a little darker, though, as the current grey is a little hard to read. I would also stick to using just the lighter grey color inside the borders of your boards, in other words change your windowbg2 color to match the windowbg color. I like the splash of red that we get with the on/off icons, and I'd love to see more of that dispersed throughout the boards. Graphics and images:I like your banner, though I'm wondering if it has any significance with relation to the theme of your board. With your on/off images, they are a little rough around the edges. If you could go back and smooth those out, that would go the extra mile. Besides that, some category gradients would be great, but not necessary. Forum topic/theme and board content:General Talk boards are... general.  Which isn't a bad thing, but if you had that one over the top creative board, it would make the forum stand out. I like the "random" board idea to keep things interesting. I'd like to see some more categories in general on the main page, because while you might have some offerings in the "random" board, you want to give your potential members an idea about what their options are. Coding and odds 'n' ends:I think you're all set on the coding end as far as visuals go, you seem to have pretty specific custom codes and they all look to be installed correctly, which is always a good thing. . Overall:Very good start to the board, you seem to have things under control and you're ready to welcome members with good asthetics and discussion. Best of luck.

Colors and color scheme: I like the colours you've used over all. My personal opinion is that grey skins are overdone but that's only because nine out of ten boards I've critiqued have been grey toned. I do have to say I like your roll over on the boards. Very classy. Graphics and images: I like your banner! It looks professionally done. How much did you pay  No, but seriously, it does look great! I'd probably use different on/off icons. Something about them rubs me the wrong way, mainly the pixilations I see where the corners were rounded. The background you've used is nice but something about the soft lines separating the different shades bothers me when put along side the crisp lines in your banner. I'd also use some more graphics, or at least gradients, to make your board stand out more from other grey scale boards. Even if you just put them on the category titles. From the board titles I think you have a good thing going and if I could actually READ what everything was about I might actually join. But as it is... I'm not going to give myself a headache to do something for fun. Sorry. Coding and odds 'n' ends: As for your coding, everything looks perfectly fine! If I were to do anything it would be to use a category splitter. Perhaps with a short header/footer image? Here I go again with a little more colour and/or graphics to stand out... The other thing I'd consider is a table at the top of your forum in place of a news fader so you can put up links to the most important areas of your forum and any quick and important info. Overall: Over all I'd have to give you a 7 out of ten. You have adequate boards and categories that, as far as I can tell are well organized. I only docked points for the unrelieved grey scale (but that's entirely my own opinion) and the fact that I can't really read anything.

From the board titles I think you have a good thing going and if I could actually READ what everything was about I might actually join. But as it is... I'm not going to give myself a headache to do something for fun. Sorry. In the future, you could comment that the text is small, but then zoom in on your browser to read it. Ctrl + scrolling with the mouse would do that. |
