keeps on signing onto the board using different names, ages, emails and proxy IP's? I am dealing with this issue currently and would like to know if anyone has any suggestions on how this person should be handled.
For one, I do not want him back on the board again. He has been harassing me on MSN... I blocked him... before that he was PMng me, cursing at me, threatening hacking the board....and spamming. He had been a member for about 6 months and a good member until a few weeks ago when he started to ask stupid questions and started distrupting the flow of the forum. I had pm'd him and told him he was going to be put on suspension for 3 days..... until I can get back on the forum to moniter it. It was Thanksgiving weekend and I was going to be away. Well he sweet talked me into letting him back onto the board... He is my Global Admins brother, so he was given the benefit of the doubt. While I was at TG dinner, he started spamming the board and my Co-Admin banned him from the board. Well this really has upset him and he has cause stress for the past three weeks for me.
How do you handle a situation like that? Any help would be appreciated.

We have dealt with a member gone wild on another board I belong too. This person was finally banned from the site but still spys on the C-box and then stalks another member on another site they both belong to. He repeats everything she says on the C-box. It has been impossible for the admins. there to stop him from lurking. Every time they ban his IP, he lurks on the C-box with another one.
It has been an eye opening experience on online stalking.

That's always the toughest, because there isn't much that Proboards can do about outside applications like c-boxes. They can however be hidden from guests.

I've found it helpful to just ignore them, and keep banning them. They want attention. Give them none, and they shall not return.

I have to agree with the above people. All you can do is ban and delete. Don't give them the satisfaction of responding and see if you can't keep your other members from responding. A good suggestion was made my Josh, if you make it so the account has to be approved they'll probably tire of it easier. I've noticed most of those kind of jerks don't have enough brain-cells to not make a pattern of their e-mails and/or account names.

And, the handy thing about doing something like limiting registration is that it only has to be temporary if you want it to be; once the spammer leaves, you can turn it right off again.

If i had a member like that then the best thing to do is as said previously by others Keep banning and deleting even try a wildcard ban this can be done by say the ip is 123.456.789 simply add the 123.456 to your ban list then add the *** to the end of it eg: 123.456.*** that will ban all ips in that range Also limited registration or even disabling registrations all together for a few days would work any members that really want to join your forum would just come back another day but someone your trying to ban would just realise he isnt getting anywere and just give up

I would suggest removing the range ban after a certain amount of time when the person has had time to give up.

Making it into a time ban sounds like a better approach but if they returned and started again that would be a risk i would have to take

Set it up for admins and co-admins to approve new member registration. You have to cautious when banning IP's just in case you might ban an innocent member and sometimes even yourself. I accidentally did that once. Different ISP's are difficult to control. You can access a computer from anywhere. I have a question. How does one lurk on the C-box? Does that refer to the chat box?

Yes, usually a specific kind from cbox.com. It's harder to control, because they do not fall under the governing laws of Proboards in terms of spamming and the like. It's up to each person to find a way to deal with the problem with the individual provider.
