I voted for Obama (absentee because I will be at school on election day). I'm predicting he'll win, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's by a lesser margin than what the polls are currently predicting. I would agree with most of what I'm reading, in that there's probably at least a small percentage of voters who say they are voting Obama/are undecided, but are actually just hiding racism in the polls.
I really want Obama to win though. I don't want 4 more years of what would essentially be another George Bush, and the chance that we could have Sarah Palin in office should something happen to McCain.

I find it really fascinating (this comes up a lot on PBS, by the way) just how much foreigners are invested in our elections. I mean, ask an American about any foreign election, myself included I'm sad to say, and I couldn't tell you squat. But ask a foreigner about American elections, and they probably know our candidates better than we do. It's quite embarrassing, frankly.
What is also embarrassing is the sheer ignorance that people have when it comes to the insults that have been traded back and forth during this election. I found myself fighting with my father tonight over whether or not Obama's "best friend" is a terrorist. I hardly think that Obama would consider Aires to be his "best friend". My dad said, "but he knows him, and Aires is campaigning for him". So I answered with: "So say someone like... Charles Manson suddenly endorsed John McCain for president. Would that make John McCain's best friend a murderer?" To which my dad had no answer.
I'm afraid of what the McCain/Palin ticket would mean. Almost more than I don't trust John McCain to not continue exactly what George Bush has started, I don't trust Sarah Palin to tie her children's shoes, never mind run a country. My dad argued that when Obama is president (he has sort of accepted that McCain isn't winning at this point, I think), that we'll have another terrorist attack, just like we did "in response to Bill Clinton's administration." It took both my mother and I to remind him that 9/11 happened in Bush's administration, not Clinton's, and that under Clinton we were far better of than we had ever been under George Bush number one. And that the economy was booming and we had one of the largest surpluses ever. Now, we're in a war with one country that we invaded unjustly and another where we can't seem to find the people that we're looking for, we're headed for another economic depression, and we can't trust most of our elected officials. What does that say about what happened after Clinton, hm?

The thing is, the US job directly effects the UK; the economy, the war etc... The Iraq war is pretty unpopular, so people are going to be interested in whether we'll be out of it soon or not... KtF Joe

Lordy, I hadn't heard the anti-christ one. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, given what everyone else has given themselves license to say.
Tomorrow is the big day! Everyone I know is urging everyone else to vote, which is a fantastic thing! I hope everyone makes an informed decision, especially on the additional ballot questions that haven't been highlighted as much as I've seen in the past. I didn't even know about the second two on mine until I got my physical absentee ballot.

Do you reckon he'll actually survive his whole term, though? Theres been a lot going around (in the press) here about the possibility of some crazy redkneck (Quoting Jon Gaunt!!! [Whos an idiot]) having a pop at him... KtF Joe

KtF Joe Before this conversation goes any farther, I want to make sure that we understand that discriminatory comments (like the one you just made about rednecks) are not allowed or condoned here. There was a plot, before he was elected, made by a few neo-nazis. That was broken up. But, I will say that he is probably in more danger than any of the previous presidents. That is what we have the Secret Service for, though.

I just hope to God that your Secret Service is good enough... KtF Joe
